General Motors selected Lingenfelter Performance Engineering as the first aftermarket company to pilot the development of the Certified Installer Program for their industry-leading Chevrolet Performance Connect & Cruise eCrate Electric System. Lingenfelter has been adding industry-leading performance to gas-powered GM cars and trucks since 1973, warranties included, so it makes perfect sense that GM would partner with Lingenfelter for GM's high-performance electric eCrate system.
Lingenfelter unveiled the first Certified Installer Program Chevrolet Performance Connect & Cruise eCrate Package in their electric 1972 El Camino restomod at the 2021 Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis, IN after accumulating hundreds of test miles to validate the electric motor swap concept.
“This OEM and aftermarket collaboration opens exciting new opportunities for the aftermarket performance community and will draw a new demographic of enthusiasts,” said the COO/VP of Operations at Lingenfelter, Mark Rapson. “The project not only validated the concept but demonstrated the excitement EV performance offers. The performance and fun factor of driving the car has impressed everyone who has had the opportunity behind the wheel.”
Since the unveiling, the El Camino had the honor of receiving the Official Long Hauler plaque from Hot Rod Power Tour 2022 after completing the entire five-day tour from Millington, TN to Hampton, GA with zero mechanical or electrical issues.
