Lingenfelter offers an excellent flowing CNC ported version of the first design GM LS1 aluminum cylinder head used on the 1997 - 1998 Corvette and the 1998 Camaro / Firebird. These early LS1 cylinder heads were also called perimeter bolt LS1 cylinder heads because of the style of valve cover and head casting design that used a perimeter bolt or outside on the edge bolt pattern as compared to later LS1 and LS2 center bolt pattern cylinder heads.
The port and chambers are carefully designed to provide the best combination of high flow capabilities and improved port velocity. This combination provides excellent horsepower gains while maintaining a strong torque curve. Lingenfelter cylinder heads are precision CNC machined in house to insure that exact tolerances are maintained.
The Lingenfelter CNC porting procedure is a computer controlled machining operation that duplicates exact details from a finished Lingenfelter hand ported cylinder head. Hand porting is a very labor intensive and time-consuming procedure that takes years to perfect. By CNC porting the cylinder heads the high cost of hand porting is reduced, plus the CNC porting is more consistent and will produce better results. Each CNC ported cylinder head will have the exact same port and chamber configuration as the original master used to develop the CNC program.
Following porting each head receives:
Precision 3 angle valve job to maximize flow & provide extended life
CC checking chamber size for correct compression Surfacing to insure deck flatness
Professional assembly, setting spring height & checking all tolerances
Base price package includes porting LPE core (select above) or your supplied cylinder heads: Stock valves, LS6 valve springs for GT2-3 camshaft, retainers, locks and valve seals.
